The land of Kedarnath
is considered heaven. According to another legend, Nar and Narayan Rishi,
an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, performed severe penance on the Kedar Shringa of
the Himalayas. Pleased with the penance, Lord Shiva appeared in the form
of Jyotirlinga and started residing at this place forever. It is in the
Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. Kedarnath Dham
and the temple are surrounded by mountains on the three sides. In 'Skanda
Purana', Lord Shankar says to Mother Parvati,' O Praneshwari'! This area is as
ancient as I am. The doors of the temple are closed in winter on the second day
of the Diwali festival. The lamps keep burning for 6months.
In Devbhoomi
Uttarakhand also, the God of Gods, Mahadev resides. This ancient abode
of God is known as Shri Kedarnath Tirth Kshetra. Kedarnath is also one of the 12
Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Also, it is one of the holy 4 Dham.
